Why choose Yaxell kitchen knives

Large range

Yaxell does not just produce the standard Japanese kitchen knives you'd expect. They also offer meat forks, sausage knives, tomato knives and other ''exotic knives'' that most Japanese brands do not include in their range.

Micarta and pakka wood handles

Yaxell commonly uses micarta and pakka wood for its knife handles. Micarta is made from layers of fabric impregnated with epoxy resin, making it exceptionally durable, hard-wearing and water-resistant. Pakka wood is laminated wood reinforced with synthetic resin, combining the natural warmth and appearance of wood with enhanced strength and moisture resistance. Both materials are comfortable to hold and provide a secure grip, even during prolonged use.

Yaxell series

Yaxell Hana

The Yaxell Hana series combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a minimalist design. The blades are made with a MOVAX steel core and feature a San Mai construction, offering a good balance between sharpness, toughness and corrosion resistance. The matt-finished blades and octagonal wooden handles give these knives an elegant, understated appearance.

Yaxell Ketu

The Yaxell Ketu series has blades made of SG2 powder steel. This is corrosion-resistant type of steel that retains its sharpness extremely well. With a very thin grind to ensure an exceptional cutting performance.

Yaxell Ran

The knives in the Yaxell Ran series feature blades made from 69 layers of damascus steel and a Western-style handle. The core of the blade is made of VG10: stainless and easy to sharpen to razor-sharpness.

Yaxell Super Gou

The Yaxell Super Gou series features blades made from 161 layers of damascus steel! The striking red handles are a design statement in your kitchen. The blade's core is made from SG2 powder steel with very high hardness. As a result, these knives retain their sharpness for a very long time.

Yaxell Tsuchimon

The Yaxell Tsuchimon series features blades with a hammered finish. This finish is called ''Tsuchime'', which is how the series got its name. The Tsuchimon collection consists of a large range of kitchen knives and sets.

Yaxell Zen

The Yaxell Zen series is a stunning fusion of Japanese and Western design styles. The handles have a shape reminiscent of classic Japanese handles, but attached in Western style with rivets. The hammered blade of damascus steel matches the handles nicely.

Yaxell Blue Breeze

The Yaxell Blue Breeze series comprises stylish Japanese kitchen knives for everyday use. Whether you choose a chef’s knife, santoku, utility knife or the entire series as a set, each knife is designed for a wide variety of cutting tasks. The pakka wood handle feels comfortable in the hand, whilst the deep blue colour adds a splash of colour.

Yaxell Rei

The Yaxell Rei series consists of impressive Japanese kitchen knives with a distinctive, almost mysterious appearance thanks to the dark damascus steel. From a traditional chef’s knife and santoku to a kiritsuke, nakiri and sujihiki: this series offers the right kitchen knife for every cutting task.

Yaxell product types

Yaxell chef's knife

A Yaxell chef's knife is the foundation in your kitchen. Please note: the Japanese version of a chef's knife is also called ''gyuto''. In other words: at Knivesandtools, you'll find Yaxell gyutos. These are true all-rounders for your kitchen.

Yaxell santoku

Of course, a Japanese knife brand cannot do without santoku knives. You can choose between a Yaxell santoku with or without dimples in the blade. These dimples enhance ''food release'', meaning that slices of food won't stick to your blade. There are also santokus with a hammered blade, creating the same effect with a more rustic appearance.

Yaxell knife set

Yaxell kitchen knives are also available in knife sets. This gives you more bang for your buck, and you'll have a complete, matching collection of kitchen knives in one go! Moreover, Yaxell knife sets are always beautifully packaged, making them great gifts.

Yaxell steak knife

Yaxell steak knives make short work of steaks and other dishes. Not many Japanese knife brands sell steak knives, which is why Yaxell is unique.

History of Yaxell

Yaxell is a prominent Japanese kitchen knife brand founded in 1932 in Seki, Japan. This city is the knife capital of Japan: knives and swords have been produced for centuries. As such, forging is deeply ingrained in Seki's culture. Yaxell draws inspiration and expertise from all the knife makers in this city. Their knives are used across the globe by both professional chefs and amateur chefs. A characteristic feature of Yaxell is the use of beautiful damascus steel in various patterns. These blades are often fitted with a core of super-hard Japanese steel, for optimal sharpness retention. Yaxell's legacy is one of quality, craftsmanship, and a strong commitment to the art of knife making.
