Becker Knife & Tool design philosophy

The great thing about Ethan Becker is his design philosophy: 'Becker Knives work for a living. And if they happen to look good, that's ok too.' It perfectly describes his utilitarian view of the knives he designs and produces. A great example is the KA-BAR Becker BK2. A large outdoor knife, made to withstand anything. But his outlook on the past is also interesting. He put a lot of effort into getting an original Kephart knife. Eventually this led to the KA-BAR Becker BK62 Kephart, a model that closely resembles the one produced over a hundred years ago.

Ethan Becker: the man behind the knives

Even though his knives seem to say it all, Ethan Becker also comes with quite the story. His grandmother was Irma S. Rombauer. Author of best-selling collection 'The Joy of Cooking'. These cookbooks have been published ever since the 1930s. In the 70s Ethan Becker started the prestigious Cordon Blue cooking school in Paris. Later on, he also contributed to new editions of 'The Joy of Cooking'. Throughout the years, over 18 million copies of these books were sold. It demonstrates that Becker can also handle a kitchen knife, and doesn't only excel in the outdoor world.
