You really need to hold this axe to appreciate it. It may seem slightly old school but it brings joy just to see the solidity of the workmanship. It is a real man's axe!

Haven't yet used the hatchet, but everything looks superb: the fitting, wood grain orientation, quality of materials and workmanship. The edge grind is a bit rough, but I'll improve it - it almost cuts paper the way it is, and not a problem at this price point. The size and weight look good for fine work and single-hand use, two-hand use seems possible if a little bit cramped. The protective mask is sort of OK - a bit loose, but seems to safely stay in place. Will probably add some leather string to make it more secure, or even fabricate a custom leather mask & collar.

It looks good and feels comfortable to hold and swing. It feels heavier than I had expected (in a good way) but I’m glad I didn’t order anything heavier. It arrived with a good sharpness but I haven’t had an opportunity to use in earnest yet so cannot comment on how it will hold its sharpness.
