For the money it’s hard to do much better than the Morakniv Companion. The HD is obviously quite thick, and can be a bit awkward for finer tasks like slicing food etc. That said, that isn’t really what it’s for; when I go camping I’ll bring an Opinel for those kinds of tasks and the HD for batoning etc. I should mention that the handle is surprisingly thick, might be an issue for people with smaller hands. My one frustration is the lack of any Mora Companions with left handed sheaths; unlike some other Moras the Companion does not come with a sheath with a front clipping mechanism (intended to join multiple sheaths) that allows for modification to left handed. Having to buy a sheath slightly defeats the purpose of buying an inexpensive knife. Still, this won’t be an issue for 9 out of 10 people. All in all, very good knife at a great price.
