With this **Shapton Pro Stone grain 2000** you can sharpen quickly and evenly. This ceramic Japanese sharpening stone has a grain size of 2000. A medium sharpening stone that will polish your knife and leave a nice finish. This sharpening stone is also a nice intermediate step from a lower grain size to a real polishing stone like the 5000 grain. The sharpening stone is suitable for almost all types of knives. From outdoor knives to kitchen knives, from pocket knives to chisels.

## Shapton Pro Stones

In Japan, these colourful Shapton Pro sharpening stones are also known as *Shapton Ha-No-Kuromaku*. They are Shapton's thickest sharpening stones, with a thickness of 15 mm. As befits Shapton, each stone is beautifully homogeneous in structure, with evenly distributed ceramic sharpening particles. This ensures a really even sharpening result. Because the stones are quite hard, they quickly remove material and they take a long time to wear down.

## Shapton Pro Stones: grit sizes and colours

The Shapton Pro sharpening stones are available in various grit sizes. Each of these grit sizes has a corresponding colour, so you can quickly see which stone you need. 

With the Shapton Pro Stones, you have the right stone for every step of the sharpening process. From restoring an edge with the coarse grit 120 stone, through to polishing the edge with a super fine grit 12,000 stone. 

## How to use Shapton Pro Stones

Every Shapton Pro sharpening stone is *splash & go*: simply sprinkle a bit of water onto the stone and you can start sharpening. You'll notice that the stone removes material pretty quickly. This gives you speedy results, and also means the stone wears down less quickly. These stones do not need to be soaked except the very first time after purchase. We do recommend that on first use, you pre-soak the stone in water for five to six minutes to secure even smoother sharpening.

After use, clean the stone with water and leave it to dry. Don't try to speed up the drying process with a fan or heater - give the stone time to dry naturally. After it has dried completely, you can put it back in the corresponding storage box.

If used frequently, the stone will hollow out over time. A lapping plate can solve this problem in no time, leaving the stone as flat as a billiard cloth once again.

## Multifunctional protective box

This Shapton Pro Stone is delivered in a green plastic storage box, which matches the colour of the sharpening stone. The box isn't just useful for storing the stone. The top is enhanced with raised edges. The stone fits exactly in between those edges. This means you can also use the box as a sharpening stone holder. The non-slip feet on the bottom mean that it won't slide while you're sharpening. Finally, there are ventilation holes on the bottom, so you can store the sharpening stone without any worries, even if the sharpening stone doesn't appear to be fully dry. These details make all the difference.

Fantastic item. Keeps my kitchen knives razor sharp. 

This stone is amazing. using it after a 1200grit diamond stone, and have tried it on multiple types of steels, and it just cuts the perfect amount, making every pass smooth, yet noticeable cutting.

i follow up with the shapton grit 5000 after, and most of the time, you dont need it. the results after the 2000 is already "mirror edge passing" and razor sharp. 

10/10 would recommend this to anyone interested in hand sharpening.

Very good value for money, best price I found online, shipping was also quick. This stone is really nice to work with. Just a quick splash of water and you are good to go. It doesn’t take too much and your edge is nicely polished. After I finish with sharpening on the stone, I use strop with 6 micron and 1 micron paste. The result is a very sharp edge that can whittle hair.

na de 220 en 1000 ook de 2000 en 5000 aangeschaft. handige opbergdoos, maar beetje water nodig en direct te gebruiken. Verslijten ook nog eens zeer langzaam.

I love this (ceramic) stone. 
On some of my EDCs I like the edge to be a little "toothy". This stone provides exactly that! I often use it as the final stone before stropping.
I really like the "splash ad go" where you don't have to soak it before sharpening.
I have sharpened about 10 knives on it so far, and i can hardly see any tear or wear. This stone will probably outlive me..
