This **Naniwa Advance Stone S1-480** is a Japanese sharpening stone with grain size 8000. This top-quality whetstone is a part of the Advance Stone collection: the successor of the Naniwa Super Stone Collection.


## Synthetic resin-bound sharpening stones


The Advance Stones are synthetic resin-bound. Naniwa takes care of the production of this binding agent themselves. Perfectly aligned to the grain size of the sharpening stone. It is one of the reasons why the Advance Stones are so incredibly good. They are hard, do not wear out easily and have a high concentration of sharpening particles. As a result your knife won’t quickly ‘bite’ into your stone and the sharpening process will go quickly. In addition, they are *splash & go*: simply add some water and you are good to go.


After sharpening it is important to properly dry off the Advance Stones and allow them to completely dry at room temperature. Do not put them on the heater! Once dry store them in a dry, dark place to prevent small cracks.


## About the grain size


Sharpening stones come in various grain sizes. The larger the number the finer the grain. The finer the grain, the sharper the results. You start the sharpening process with a coarse grain after which you continue with a finer grain. Steps of a factor two to three between the different grain sizes are perfect.


## Indication for choosing the right sharpening stone




* Grain 200 to 600: great to restore the edge of blunt knives

* Grain 800 to 1000: great to sharpen knives that are still in good shape

* Grain 2000 to 3000: for a sharper result than most knives that are delivered to your doorstep

* Grain 5000 to 12000: for razor-sharp knives

This was the worst stone I have ever bought. It arrived bent and stayed that way. It wouldn't stay flat at all. Knives and tools were very kind to offer me a refund even though I had tried to flatten it. I would never purchase a 10mm Naniwa again. Go for the 20mm instead.

Great product at a decent price. Fast and easy ordering and delivery. 

Je comptait utiliser quelquechose de plus durable que la pierre de coticule mais au final le feeling et le rendu n'est pas le même les deux sont donnés pour 8000 mais la coticule semble plus abrasive et je vais continuer avec je pense.

Dit is werkelijk de meest klanvriendelijk online winkel die ik ooit ben tegengekomen op internet!!!
De leveringen zijn altijd supersnel bij je thuis met een werkelijk fantastische klantenservice.
Ook de verzendkosten (als men dit al rekent want boven € 50,00 is verzenden gratis) zijn allezins redelijk. Er zijn bedrijven die standaard € 6,95 rekenen voor verzending van iets kleins wat door de brievenbus past. Zo niet dit bedrijf die slechts € 2,95 rekenen en dus niet ook nog op de verzendkosten willen verdienen.
Ik had nog een andere ervaring met dit bedrijf waar ik hier niet op uit wil wijden maar men heeft het zoals ik al verwachtte geheel naar grote tevredenheid opgelost.

Dit bedrijf verdiend een enorme pluim en is een echte aanrader!!!
