I've bought a set, 400, 800, 3000, and the 3000 was the only one I feared, but which didn't failed, is course enough to still give you a decent burr but smooth enough to really give it a nice polish. My fear was that I was accustomed with 6000 grit as a finish and that 3000 wouldn't be enough, STOP SEARCHING! it's enough, finish the edge with a strop and you will have a mirror polish.
