The **TSPROF Venev diamond-coated double-sided sharpening stone, extra coarse and coarse** is a sharpening stone with two different sides. One side has a grain size between 160 and 125 micron and the other side has a grain size between 50 and 40 micron. This is comparable to a J100 and J300 Japanese sharpening stone.

 ### Russian microns

 No grain on a sharpening stone has the same size. A sharpening stone is comprised of millions of sharpening particles. In the real world these sharpening particles never have the same size. Even if the manufacturer carefully sorts them by size, there will always be a certain range of dimensions. That is why Venev states that this sharpening stone has an average grain size of 160/125 and 50/40 micron.

 ### Diamond concentration

 In this diamond-coated sharpening stone the diamond particles are bound in a binding agent. The diamond concentration of this sharpening stone is 25%. As such this coarse sharpening stone leaves you with quick and even results. Despite the thin 1.5 mm sharpening layer you won't quickly need to replace this sharpening stone. The binding agent and the diamond sharpening particles are rock-solid and can handle wear and tear.

 ### Use and maintenance

 The sharpening stones work best if you add some water to the surface. As you use them the sharpening stones can be contaminated with metal particles. Fortunately you can easily remove those with hot water and a sponge.
