I bought this for my 8 year old grandson as he loves helping with cooking and veg prep. He was very impressed with it and felt really grown up having a real knife. I saw the set on the Instagram stories of swfeebs- check her out!

I was able to get this set as part of a combideal with an Opinel child's folding pocket knife. This made the price much more palatable, as the list price is quite high for what is essentially a knife and a peeler. My kids have got on very well with the knife, when they start chopping faster the finger ring will be a great help as keeping the index finger in it should keep all the fingers safely out of the way. The separate finger guard is a lot more useful than the pictures show. There are two hook-shaped loops to push fingers through and hold the guard over the knuckles, but it still permits quite a lot of movement for the fingers, so gripping the food is not hard. The peeler is good quality and well made. I'm not sure how much help the finger ring is going to be, as it's the hand holding the vegetable which is most vulnerable, but the sturdy handle should help them maintain a good grip and not peel their fingers too often!

The knife and finger guard are excellent, well made and easy to hold. They have really improved my sons confidence with helping to prepare food for the family. The peeler is well made but in use really no different to a standard peeler.

Great products - although beware as the knife is extremely sharp and due to the safety elements it would be easy to think the kids could be less supervised, but they can't.
