The **Benchmade Puukko 200** is a robust bushcraft knife in Puukko-style. The Puukko is traditionally from Scandinavia where it is an all-round outdoor knife. It is used for bushcraft tasks, but also for hunting or for odd jobs around the house. This Benchmade Puukko is a very modern interpretation of this classic. 

  Benchmade has gone to great lengths to make this Puukko into a very robust knife. The traditional Puukkoo wooden handle is replaced by the Santoprene. This is a rubber-like plastic that can take a few blows. Moreover, it is very comfortable in hand. It offers you enough grip even in wet circumstances. Helped by the subtle texture of the handle.

 CPM 3V has been chosen for the blade. That is one of the toughest and most robust type of steels at the moment. This steel can easily handle heavy-duty use. In addition, it retains its sharpness well and is relatively easy to sharpen. It is also important to know that CPM 3V is not 100% stainless. Salt, acids and moisture can leave you with some discolourations or even corrosion. But with normal use and maintenance this should not be a problem.

 Where traditional Puukkos often have a full scandi edge, Benchmade has provided its Puukko with a grind that looks like it. You will find a secondary edge at the end.

 To securely carry the Benchmade 200 Puukkoo around a leather sheath is included. This is equipped with a fairly wide belt loop, with a second belt loop that also serves as a "dangler". This makes it easier for you to squat or sit down when you carry the knife on your belt. Besides, the sheath is provided with a loop in which you can place a firesteel.

El cuchillo es compacto, ligero, robusto y atractivo con unas líneas muy limpias y sencillas de inspiración clásicas pero moderno con el aspecto y la textura escamosa del mango. El vaciado es de tipo sable y viene con un filo secundario bastante  bien afilado. Ideal como cuchillo de hiking.  El mango se siente rígido a pesar de la apariencia del caucho y tiene un agarre excelente gracias a la textura y el material. Sin embargo, es algo áspero y abrasivo para un uso prolongado sin guantes y quizá un poco estrecho para mi gusto. Como aspectos negativos encuentro que el Santoprene no ajusta herméticamente a la hoja en la parte del recazo y se cuela algo de liquido o agua cuando se usa o limpia la hoja con el riesgo de oxidación que supone. Por otro lado la funda es bastante justa, mediocre como mucho, ya que el ajuste con el cuchillo es escaso  y con una sacudida fuerte no retiene la hoja, no da confianza. 
Para mi lo mejor es la combinación del diseño compacto y atractivo con el excelente CPM 3V a ese precio.

Les puristes m'objecteront que ce n'est pas un vrai PUUKKO, stricto sensu, ou que le dos de lame se prête mal à l'usage d'un allume-feu ; c'est vrai. Pour le reste, ce couteau est d'une taille, d'une géométrie et d'une ergonomie parfaites. Super-acier Une fois l'affûtage fignolé, c'est LE TOP !  

Ik wou dit mes zo graag goed vinden, maar de afwerking waar het lemmet overgaat in het heft is slecht uitgevoerd.

De kunststof van het heft sluit niet netjes aan op het staal, en laat een klein spleetje over. Hier kan water in raken wat niet ideaal is voor staal dat niet volledig roestvast is.

Ik heb een tweede exemplaar besteld, zelfde probleem. Beide geretourneerd.
