This **Wüsthof Classic cleaver** with a 16 centimetre blade is heavy artillery! It is ideal for chopping through bones or chopping up a pumpkin, for example. Due to the relatively heavy weight, you can apply a lot of force. This knife is of the high quality that the Wüsthof Classic series is so famous for. 

Compared to the \[other cleaver from the Wüsthof Classic series\](/en/pt/-wusthof-classic-cleaver-16-cm-1040102816.htm), this blade has a slightly different handle. This knife has a completely rectangular handle, which is somewhat reminiscent of an Asian handle. The other cleaver in the Classic series, however, has a more “traditional” Western handle. One isn't better or worse than the other, it's simply a matter of personal preference.

## Wüsthof Classic blade: laser-sharp stainless steel

The forged chromium-vanadium steel (X50CrMoV15) blade is forged from one piece of steel. The knife is sharpened according to Wüsthof's PEtec technology. This means that the sharpening angle for each blade is calculated with the help of a computer. The blade is then sharpened with laser precision on a wet sharpening stone. After thorough inspection, each knife will leave the production line, ready for a long life of intensive use. 

Wüsthof modifies the steel so that it has a high hardness of 58 Rockwell. This means that the knife retains its sharpness for a really long time. But if it does become a little blunter, all you have to do is move it over a honing steel a couple of times. The result is a razor-sharp knife that is a pleasure to work with.

## Wüsthof Classic handle: durable and hygienic

This knife is a combination of a forged blade and an ergonomic handle made from black POM, an extremely durable plastic. This handle can deal with any substances found in the kitchen. The handle is traditionally, and seamlessly, riveted to the blade with three rivets. This means that no dirt can accumulate in between the blade and the hilt. The crop will protect your fingers from unwanted contact with the edge. What more could a cooking enthusiast ask for?

## Wüsthof Classic: the classic Wüsthof series

The Classic is the most extensive Wüsthof collection. The collection consists of 80 different kitchen knives, including various sizes of chef's knives, bread knives and carving knives. Because this collection has most versions of all possible knives, you can easily create your own complete knife set. A knife set with a knife block or chef's case is of course also an option!

These kitchen knives are a popular choice among both amateur and professional chefs. They also feature the NSF hygiene mark.

Please note that knives are almost always sharpened by hand, even in factories. This value is therefore only an indication of a single tool measured by us.
