Een echt gentlemen mes.
Eentje dat je met een glimlach kan bovenhalen op restaurant om je kaas te snijden.
Heeft als voordeel dat hij vergrendeld,  wat niet altijd het geval is bij dit type messen.
Nadeel is wel dat hij zo mooi afgewerkt is dat je bang bent voor krasjes waardoor ik hem niet alledaags gebruik

Het mes is redelijk scherp bij aankomst maar de finesse is er wel snel van af. 
Opgeklapt / ingevouwen  is het een raar mes, Het lemmet valt niet geheel in het handvat en daardoor is het eigenlijk niet geschikt om als zakmes te dienen. Open geklapt is het wel een mooi sierlijk mes van een onverwacht zware  kwaliteit

Waarom een "Laguiole" mes?
Voor mij: ze zijn van zeer hoge kwaliteit wat betreft staalsoort, mechaniek en afwerking (handwerk!)en ze zien er gewoon schitterend uit, zowel de elegante als de meer robuuste modellen. Je kunt er zonder meer mee voor de dag komen als werkmes, maar ook in een restaurant ("Meneer, u heeft een beter mes dan wij kunnen aanbieden").
Ik heb geen behoefte aan een gereedschapskist op zak en voel me óók geen Survival-Commando-SEAL.

Ik heb gekozen voor een exemplaar uit de Nature-serie van Fontenille Pataud, vanwege de mix van functioneel/mooi/duurzaam, én vanwege de vergrendeling van dit mes.
OK, de "slip joint" (semi)vergrendeling klapt niet gemakkelijk dicht bij gebruik, maar bij de back-lock vergrendeling,  standaard in de Nature-serie, is dat geheel onmogelijk. 'n Heel groot voordeel is, dat het mes daardoor véél lichter open/dicht gaat.
Voor het heft koos ik voor slangenhout (letterhout), met 3800 op de Janka-schaal één van de hardste houtsoorten, nagenoeg onverslijtbaar, en ook nog eens erg mooi.
Het ingenagelde "Herderskruis" is 'n béétje krom; tja, 't blijft handwerk.  

Op het lemmet heb ik K&T de geboortedatum en de (koos)naam van mijn zoontje laten graveren.
Heb ik zo altijd bij me, en later is het mes van hém.
En dan ziet het er nog steeds fantastisch uit, die Laguiole...

Een prachtig mes dat duidelijk meer aandacht heeft gekregen dan wat je gemiddeld voor hetzelfde geld van de lopende band krijgt. 

Prachtig mes, goed scherp en mooi afgewerkt. Juist dit merk gekocht omdat de veer en de bij uit een stuk zijn gemaakt een echt kwaliteitskenmerk. Bij de goedkopere Laguiole messen zijn de vleugels gesoldeerd.
