The TRC Knives Mille Cuori is a versatile outdoor knife, made for campers, fishermen and hunters. This design was inspired by Giuseppe Garbaldi. An Italian general who made a name for himself in the nineteenth century as the liberator of Italy. A ruthless strategist and great leader. He promised his 1000 men nothing more than hunger, thirst, forced marches, fights and death. It was all that was needed to get the job done. This dedication inspired TRC to make the Mille Cuori. The name means Thousand Hearts. A reference to the thousand men who fought for Garbaldi.
The TRC Mille Cuori is an amazing knife. You can see and feel that this knife was carefully thought through. TRC worked with soldiers to make sure this knife would meet their demands. The finish is absolutely exceptional, so good, and the choice of materials is great as well.
The blade, for instance, is made from Vanadis 4 Extra-steel. During endurance tests this type of steel performs really well. Few types of steel retain their sharpness longer. In addition, it is very tough and can therefore handle its own. Vanadis 4 Extra is usually only used by a few custom knife makers, and even those are very hard to find. The fact that a brand such as TRC has produced such an amazing knife from this type of steel is simply amazing.
You do, however, have to know that Vanadis 4 Extra is not completely stainless. If it comes in contact with salt, acid and moisture it can stain and eventually rust. Fortunately TRC enhanced the blade from front to back with a matt-black DLC-coating. This saves you a lot of maintenance. The flat grind of the blade was applied by hand. Unheard of for a production knife such as this.
The handle is made from micarta. This is a composite material of linen and synthetic resin. It offers you enough grip, and because of the grip grooves you will know for sure that you won't just lose it. At the end of the handle you will find a steel pommel. This ensures that the balance of the knife is located underneath your index and middle finger. Exactly where you want to have it. You can also use the pommel as an improvised hammer.
The TRC Knives Mille Cuori comes with a nice, hand-made kydex sheath. It has a Pull the dot strap you can use as a belt loop. You can also use this strap on a MOLLE-web, and is great for left-handed use. It really was carefully thought through.
